What each tool does
GA4Spy
A Chrome extension that reads GA4 and GTM tags as you browse any website. Primarily used for competitive research - seeing which measurement IDs, event names, and parameters a competitor uses. Works by intercepting browser requests in real time while you browse.
GetInlytics Gap Analysis
A server-side audit tool that loads a URL in a headless browser and checks GA4 measurement ID, Consent Mode v2 signals, GTM container health, pre-consent firing behaviour, and GDPR compliance score. Works on any URL, no Chrome required.

When to use GA4Spy
GA4Spy is the right tool when you want to understand how a specific website has implemented GA4 - what events they track, what parameters they pass, whether they use server-side tagging. This is valuable for competitive research and for benchmarking your own implementation against industry peers.
The limitation is that GA4Spy is a browser extension - it only works in Chrome, only while you are actively browsing, and it cannot tell you whether the implementation is GDPR compliant or whether tags are firing before consent. It reads what is there, not whether it is configured correctly.
When to use GetInlytics
GetInlytics is the right tool when you need to audit compliance - your own site, a client site, or any URL where you need to know whether GA4 is firing before consent, whether Consent Mode v2 is configured correctly, and whether there are GDPR violations. It works from any browser, no extension required, and produces a shareable report.
It also covers GTM - detecting container IDs, tag sequencing issues, and Custom HTML security risks - which GA4Spy does not do.
The access model difference
GA4Spy requires installing a Chrome extension and browsing the target URL manually. GetInlytics takes a URL and runs the audit server-side, returning results in under 60 seconds. For auditing multiple client sites or running periodic compliance checks, the server-side approach is significantly faster.
