Our scanner does not just look for a script tag. We fingerprint each CMP using JavaScript globals, DOM elements, script domains, and consent cookies - four independent signals - so detection is reliable even when CMPs load asynchronously or behind tag managers.
IAB TCF fallback detection
Any CMP that implements the IAB Transparency and Consent Framework is also detected automatically via the euconsent-v2 cookie and IABTCF_* localStorage signals - even if the CMP is not in our named list. Detection is step one. Once we identify your CMP, we run a full compliance verification across multiple scenarios and regions.
- Verify banner display timing - does it appear before any non-essential cookies load?
- Test Accept All in a fresh browser session and confirm tracking cookies activate correctly
- Test Reject All in a separate session and confirm non-essential cookies are fully blocked
- Validate Google Consent Mode v2 signals (ad_storage, analytics_storage, ad_user_data, ad_personalization)
- Check for dark patterns - pre-ticked boxes, buried reject buttons, unequal button prominence
- Validate the IAB TCF consent string if your CMP generates one
